Board News
The board would like to welcome all of our new students and staff for this academic year. We also extend a warm welcome back to all of you who are returning to study, teach or help in our school.
Dress Code
Just as a reminder, here are the dress code guidelines (as outlined in the School Handbook 2006-2007, pg 14): Both staff and students need to dress appropriately and modestly for the Egyptian culture. Student attire also needs to be suitable for outdoor play. Shoes are to be worn at all times. Shorts and skirts are to be neat and modest. For most students, this guideline translates to a length that reaches more than two-thirds down the thigh. Modest expectations extend to language or symbols printed on clothing. Clothing that promotes disrespectful or violent behaviour or advertises the use of drugs or alcohol is inappropriate. In addition to this overall statement, appropriate sports wear is to be worn for all sporting activities, PE classes and swimming, whether the activity takes place in or out of school. This includes the wearing of sports shoes. Primary students should bring a change of clothes, either to change into or out of , so they are not wearing sports attire all day.
The following are not permitted
- hats (inside the building),
- tank/ tube tops, low cut/ crop tops: tops must be long enough to cover the midriff when arms are lifted straight overhead, no midriff showing,
- low-riding or sagging pants (waistband should be no more than two inches below navel and no underwear should be showing above the garment's waistband),
- unhemmed clothing,
- blouses or dresses with narrow straps (For KG - G5 narrow straps are permitted. G6 - G12 straps to cover top of shoulders and be at least three inches wide or narrow straps covered with a blouse),
- excessively tight clothing (which shows underwear lines),
- platform shoes, and
- extreme make up, excessive jewellery and extreme hairstyles/colours.
